Colorado Archery Elk 2009

This last week I joined my good buddy and fellow Outback Outdoors Team Member Adam Wells in the high country of western Colorado archery hunting rutting bull elk (look for this exciting hunt in the months to come on http://www.outbackoutdoors.net/ in a future webisode. Although the bulls seemed to be rutting late, the 80 + degree heat didn't help, but we were still able to put two good Colorado bulls down on video in 3 1/2 days.

Ontario Bear Hunt 2009

I was invited to join Durk Stark of Kicking Bear ( http://www.kickingbear.org/) on an awesome black bear hunt in Ontario Canada with The Bear Camp. Durk ran camera for me and he was able to take a great bear that I initially passed on the first night. (The funny thing was we switched jobs as I became his cameraman and he shot a nice boar with a perfect kill shot - the biggest bear taken that week in camp) On the 4th night I finally arrowed a great bear with an awesome white V on his chest, and even though he was a little smaller than Durk's I was very pleased to have gotten two great kills on video for Outback Outdoors and Hardcore Hunting TV (You can watch the fall bear hunt unfold on http://www.outbackoutdoors.net/ Webisode 7).

We also had some amazing walleye fishing catching 300 walleyes in 3 hours between 4 guys. This was a hunt that was donated by The Bear Camp and auctioned off as a benefit for Kicking Bear and bought by La Crosse Archery in Lacrosse WI (http://www.lacrossearchery.com/). It was a great time and went to support a great cause!!

Bass Pro Big Game Hunting Weekend

I had a blast giving 2 seminars at the Bass Pro Shop in Denver Colorado on August 8th and 9th. The turnout was great and I had a ton of fun meeting and sharing stories with a ton of hardcore hunters from the Denver area.

Nuggets VS Lakers Game 6

Last night a buddy of mine (Craig Stinehour who has helped me in the past working as a cameraman) called and said he had just gotten tickets to game 6 of the Nuggets VS Lakers. It was awesome!! My first NBA game, and wow Kobe Bryant was unstoppable. The Nuggets lost but the game was a blast, maybe next year. Here are a few pics.

I have been "super busy" lately between working, writing, editing, and trying to get my Colorado turkey killed. I have been shooting my bow quite a bit and thought I would post a few pictures of my 80 yard groups from the other day (I snapped the pic with my phone) I love shooting my bow and now that it stays light a lot later I find myself flinging arrows more frequently.

Nebraska Spring Gobblers 09

You can always hedge your bets that in Nebraska bowhunting for turkeys will be action-packed and exciting! This year was no different. I was able to arrow my first turkey of 09 with my good friend and Outback Outdoor team member Adam Wells. We had horrible weather (for turkey hunting) with 40+ mph winds and blowing snow, but we still were fortunate to both take birds on video. Sitting in a blind with freezing conditions is not what I think of when hunting spring gobblers, but we made the most of it and had a great time and got great video to boot. Here are a few pics of my bird (which was a first for me as it had a double beard - 5" & 2") I took the first morning.

Mountain lions in the high country of Colorado

I just returned from one of the most grueling yet rewarding hunts I have ever been on in my life!!! And I was just the cameraman and we didn't even kill anything! I accompanied my good friend and partner Adam Wells on his mountain lion hunt and with HD Camera in hand we were determined to capture the real action from start to finish by staying with the hounds the whole way. I have never seen a TV show where the hunter runs with the dogs the entire hunt, it was exhausting but very cool to see those dogs work the scent through some rugged terrain. Trailing conditions for the dogs were horrible but after 2 days and many miles in steep rough country we finally treed a great cat. Only one problem, it was a female! This cat had hunted in a huge circular pattern killing a mule deer doe (which was very fresh) and most likely had a den of kittens in the vicinity. Adam chose to let that cat live (and therefore her kittens too) and take his shot at the lion with a camera rather than his new Hoyt Alphamax. What a great hunt!!

ATA 2009

It has been a while since I took the time to catch everybody up. So here goes...... The ATA Show this year was in Indy and as usual it was awesome. Having teamed up with my good buddies Adam Wells, Jim Brennan, and Ryan Litwin with the production company OUTBACK OUTDOORS, we had plenty to do as we get ready to launch our new webisodes on http://www.mossyoak.com/ later in Feb 09. Montana Mule Deer

I headed back to Montana for a great mule deer hunt (again with Matt Wickens and Dog Ceek Outfitters- http://www.wickensranch.com/) and played hunter/cameraman. Antelope retribution

As most of you probably know Colorado Antelope season was unfruitful (the antelope kicked my butt) because of all the rain we received the night before season. I was fortunate to get some antelope retribution in Montana. Jim Brennan and Ryan Litwin (Rocket Ryan - PBR Barrelman) helped me decoy and video a great kill scene on a trophy antelope buck while hunting in the heat of the day in Montana. It was action packed footage and a great kill scene captured for Muzzy's Bad to the Bone Bowhunting TV show. I felt as if I got a little pay back from the "schoolin" the Colorado antelope gave me earlier in the season!

I am still a little blown away at the results, experiences and memories of my Colorado Mt. Goat hunt. To have been able to share it with my dad is even more special! It's Go Time!!

The time is finally here and bowhunting season is in full swing. I have already been on 2 hunts in Colorado and leave this weekend for my mountain goat hunt.

My first hunt was in SE CO with my buddy Jace Bauserman and we had a blast! Unfortunately it rained a ton and our plan was to hunt and video over waterholes in the normally dry and flat prairie country aroung La Junta, CO. It was not to be and although the conditions were hard and we didn't harvest an antelope on this trip my buddy Jace Bauserman and Marc Smith both arrowed bomber bucks later in the season. (see pics attached)

Next I headed to NW CO to hunt public land elk with my good friend Gil Ruybal and left the camera in the truck. We called in some great bulls but just wasn't able to get that perfect shot placement we wanted, but that is bowhunting! Regardless of the end result it was great to get into God's creation and remember what it is about this style of hunting that we love! (see pics of camp attached)

I now head into the high elevation of Colorado with my dad (he will be rolling camera for me) to hunt my dream animal - CO mountain goats and then on to Montana for elk. Check back soon for more updates and pics.

Bass Pro Fall Hunting Classic - Denver

August 9th saw the official kickoff for the Denver's Bass Pros Shops Fall Hunting Classic, and I was the opening seminar speaker. What a privilege and a thrill! There was a great turn out and Badlands Backpacks, Mossy Oak, Muzzy Broadheads, and Wilderness Athlete sent me a ton of goodies to give away at my seminar. Just as always it was a lot of fun meeting new people and talking about bowhunting western big game, here are some pics of the event.

I just had a great weekend giving three seminars and visiting with tons of avid hunters telling stories and comparing notes on some great backcountry honey holes, (well maybe not exact locations). The seminars went great and the show was well attended. We (Jeff Lampe, Jason Dickert, & Craig Stinehour WA Prostaffers) also had a Wilderness Athlete booth were we introduced a huge amount of people to their awesome product line. Hunting season is just around the corner and this weekend I will be heading out to the high country to scout for some Mountain Goats and Archery Antelope starts August 15th. This last weekend I had the pleasure of working the Denver Gander Mountain / RMEF Elkfest show and was the featured seminar speakerboth days. I had an opportunity a few weekends ago to participate in the first ever "Shoot for the Cure" 3D shoot held in Loveland CO. The turn out was great as local archers raised money for St. Jude's Children's hospital. It was a lot of fun and I got to introduce a bunch of people to Wilderness Athlete and their product line.

Colorado Turkey 2008

A lot can be said about networking and meeting new people with similar interests, and the saying bodes true especially for the bowhunting community. Jace Bauserman, a fellow Wilderness Athlete prostaffer, Craig Stinehour (also fellow WA prostaffer and cameraman), and I joined up in SE Colorado for a dynamite turket bowhunt. There were tons of birds and Craig and I both killed nice jakes less than 30 seconds apart from the same and videoing each other's kill. It was a rush. The video was great, but what was even better was building a friendship with a new "hunting buddy" that I am sure will last a LONG time. Thanks to Jace and his family for their kindness and hospitality as they treated us like one of their own!

Colorado Mountain Goat

For over 7 years I have been dreaming and applying for a Colorado Mt Goat tag so I could bowhunt these remarkable creatures in the high (13,000' +) country of Colorado. I found out yesterday that I was successful this year and as of Sept 15th I will be chasing goats in the clouds with a bow.

For those who don't know how incredible this is, well just trust me this is a dream come true. It all started when I helped a buddy (Glenn Vlass) bowhunt his Mt Goat and I was hooked. Last year I helped my good friend Adam Wells a little and he also took a great billy.

I have videoed, written articles about, dreamt, and FINALLY now I will get to hunt these majestic white beauties. The pictures are of my successful draw notice and Adam's Mt Goat from last year.

Montana Turkey

I just returned from an AWESOME turkey hunt in Montana with my buddy Ryan Litwin - PBR Barrelman (http://www.rocketryan.net/) and new campadre Craig Hueter owner of Trophies West Outfitting (http://www.trophieswest.com/) and Terry Honkanen. We were also joined by Jerry McPherson (owner of Montana Decoy, (http://www.montanadecoy.com/) and his daughter Ashley who took a great tom her first set up. Jim Brennan my good friend and Mossy Oak NW Regional Manager also joined in on the fun running video camera for the hunt.

We had a ton of fun and hunted way too hard as the toms were henned up and would round up and take the gobblers to the next county when we would set up and call. The last day we decided to get "western" and spot and stalked the turkey that I finally killed (2 hours before the blizzard set in) and Ryan caught the hunt all on camera. There are many times in life where the busyness and all the noise of the day to day block or cover up the significant events that happen to us as we seek to meet and surpass our goals. It is only until you get past and look back does it dawn on you how special that event was and perhaps still is. This happened to me earlier this week.......

As some of you know Rivers West is one of my sponsors and they have the BEST all-weather gear for hard core outdoorsman. They just sent me some new product for 08 and I was blown away to see that they used my picture from my 2006 Colorado elk hunt on the tag for their Stalker ATP pants (see attached photo - I have also included the original picture).

Some would say "big deal!" to that, but to me it is important because they also use hardcore hunter and outdoor personality Cameron Hanes (http://www.cameronhanes.com/) on another one of their tags. This means a lot to me NOT because I feel this puts me on an equal level with a guy like Cam, but honored because he is a friend and honestly one of my mentors in the outdoor industry. Cam really has taught me a ton about bowhunting in general and it is an inspiration to see where he started from and how hard he has worked to get to where he is now in the tough competitive world of the hunting industy.

I am humbled by this and hope that I too can be a similar example to others young and old and also model how one can passionately enjoy chasing (as Uncle Ted puts it) "the spirit of Fred Bear" in the backcountry successfully.

What Really Matters!

Life seems to go by SO quickly! This week I have had an opportunity to reflect on what really matters.

I have been quite busy as of late as I am working my normal job, doing shows for Wilderness Athlete, and going through the process of applying for all the different hunts in the different states. Earlier this week I was in my office filling out the different hunting license applications and my little one Avery (she is 2 1/2 yrs old now) bounces into my office and promptly states, "I want to pet Sylvia" (the name she gave my black bear rug that I just got back from Saskatchewan Canada earlier this month). "Not now Avery I'm trying to get some work done." I grumble faking a polite tone. I corral her out of the office and shut the door.

30 minutes later.....

With article deadlines looming I settle in to try and get some writing done and and I hear a knock on the office door, "Daddy can you come out and play?" Avery begs in her sweetest princess voice. "Sweetie, I have to get some work done, I will come out later." I respond through the wooden door feeling much interrupted and put out as I get back to my writing.

45 minutes later.......

By now I had moved on to something else as I had made some aggressive headway on my article when a soft knock once again sounds on my office door. I stand up and throw my hands in the air muttering under my breath that I will NEVER get any work done and I open the door. "Daddy, can we wrestle, wrestle?" Avery asks with pleading eyes. My heart melts and it hits me what is really important in life. My articles and lists of to-do's will get done, but this little princess, my little princess will continue to grow and grow until she is all grown up and she will leave and make her own life. My little Avery wont be little for long! "Of course we can wrestle, wrestle!" I said falling to my knees to get to eye level with her. We embraced in a head clinch where she promptly head and arms me to my back. As she giggles at the prospect of pinning daddy she stops and says, "Daddy I want a pink bow with pink arrows." "Ok" I replied with a chuckle. Then she looked at me thoughtfully and asked, " Daddy, can I shoot a pink deer?"

Things that REALLY matter!

PS. My beautiful wife Sandy is pregnant again and in late November-early December we will be adding another Stoltzfus to the fold!

Colorado Bowhunter's Association 2008 Banquet

NE CBA (Colorado Bowhunter's Association meeting

Last night I had the priviledge to speak to the NE CBA meeting held at Sportsman's Warehouse in Loveland CO. The turn out was great (around 70 people) and I had a chance to hand out a bunch of Wilderness Athlete prizes for trivia questions answered, and share a comical look at televised hunting from my perspective. Really I made fun ofmyself and shared a lot of my misses and misadventures on video. We all had some good laughs at my expense. (I sometimes get tired of doing seminars from the how-to perspective and it is just fun to laugh sometimes!) Here are a few pics.

ATA (Archery Trade Association) Indy, IN

Just got back from the annual ATA show in Indy and this year was a little different then prior years. Nebraska Whitetail

REDEMPTION - Well at least that is how this bowhunt in Nebraska felt like to me. I just returned from a whitetail archery hunt with my good friend Adam Wells in southwest Nebraska on Swanson Lake Ranch (http://www.swansonlakeranch.com/). To say it was cold would be an understatement - it was downright FREEZING, but it was all worth it to take this nice Nebraska buck and get "redemption" from my earlier Kansas bowhunt where I got skunked.

It was the first morning and I had just settled into my stand when a couple of does and fawns came by and started milling aroung within 20 yards. Not 3 minutes later two smaller bucks came in lip curling and definitely looking for any second cycle does. Soon after they were followed by a nice 8 point (eastern count) buck who came by to check out the does. I finally decided to take the buck but was unable to draw for fear of getting busted by all the other deer. The does finally got spooked and with the comotion I drew. To my suprise the buck just watched the does run off and then turned broadside giving me a good shot.

It felt great to get my hands on this buck after getting blanked in Kansas, man this whitetail thing just might have something to it!! I think I am getting the FEVER.

Kansas Whitetail

Sorry this is a few weeks late (been pretty busy) but I wanted to share what a great time I had in Kansas bowhunting huge whitetails with Ted Jaycox of Tall Tine Outfitter (http://www.talltine.com/). I was fortunate enough to have shared a camp with Fred and Michele Eichler (http://www.fulldrawoutfitters.net/). Fred is the host for Easton's Reality Bowhunting TV show and Michele is the CEO for Muzzy Broadheads. Also in camp was Joe White VP at Robinson Outdoors, Braun Kopsack (Alaskan outfitter and good friend of Fred's, check this clip out where Braun saves Fred's bacon - http://youtube.com/watch?v=uMbnmLLnsfw), Jerry Dollard, and Bryn Westfall Archery clothes buyer for Cabela's.

Craig Stinehour, my good friend and fellow prostaffer for Wilderness Athlete, ran the camera for me and we had a GREAT time! Ted Jaycox has a rule that we do not shoot any whitetails under 130" P&Y or it is a $1,000 fine, which really helps promote BIG bucks. Unfortunately for me I passed on a couple small bucks and went home empty handed, but got some great footage and Braun killed a HUGE 181" buck. (included in the last in pic are left to right; Ted Jaycox, me, Braun Kopsack, Jerry Dollard, and Michele Eichler with Braun's bruiser buck) I also include two pics of smaller bucks that I passed on. But that is why we call it bowHUNTing and not bowKILLing!

Being in camp with Fred was a lot of laugh and it really sparked my interest into learning to hunt with a recurve as he is a phenomenal traditional archer, so stay tuned for more on that!

Wilderness Athlete Founder Scores on Big Mulie Buck

I just returned from a great hunt (even though I was not hunting) where I was joined by my good friend Mark Paulsen, founder of Wilderness Athlete and Bobby Beeman, a Co Host for our TV Show "The Best of the West" on Versus, for an Eastern Colorado Plains mule deer hunt. This was all put together thanks to another good buddy and great cameraman Jason Dickert. We had a great time and saw some great bucks! Mark connected on his first mulie buck and I am tickled to say it was captured for posterity (and future TV shows) on video. Although Bob Beeman did not kill a buck it was not for a lack of opportunities, Bobby has a high standard for what he considers a trophy buck and does not need to "shed blood" to have a successful hunt. Needless to say we had some good laughs and shared some great memories andare already planning our next hunt together.

Wyoming Antelope and Elk 07

I just returned from filming a hunt for "The Best of the West" TV show (now airing on Versus at 1pm eastern on Mondays) in Wyoming with Matt Burch and Four Horse Outfitters http://www.fourhorseoutfitters.com/ where I was able to arrow a great antelope and then return for a rifle Mule Deer hunt. When I returned I was joined by another old bullriding buddy Owen Washburn (1996 PBR world champion) where he got to hunt both Antelope and Mule Deer. It was some of the best rifle footage I have been a part of and the TV shows we made should be AWESOME! (Look for them this fall)

It was great seeing and catching up with Owen as it had almost been ten years since we last saw each other. He is doing great now as he retired from riding bulls but owns his own string of bucking bulls and has a very successful bucking bull breeding program (http://www.washburnbuckingbulls.com/) Here are some pics of our trophies and I can hardly wait to do it again!

Colorado Archery Elk Hunt 2007

Sorry it has been so long since my last blog it has been crazy with all the filming of my hunts, writing, working on starting a new archery TV show (more news to come on that in the future!), working, and of course spending quality time with my family.

I have recently returned from an archery hunt for elk in Colorado where it was extremely special for various reasons. The first of which is I got a chance to reconnect with an old bullriding buddy Adam Carrillo (one of the founding members of the PBR and 12 time PBR finalist) where we both were bowhunting. Another is that I got to also hunt with my good friend Adam Wells. And of course the fact that the bulls were rutting and bugling was also awesome!

I was fortunate enough to take a great 5X5 on video with a great shot and he only went 3 steps and piled up on camera. We had a great crew and a lot of laughs around the campfire and as you probably already know that is as important t0 me as the kill! Wilderness Athlete Backcountry Nevada Archery Mule Deer Hunt

Just returned from an awesome NV archery Mule deer hunt with some good friends and fellow backcountry wilderness athletes Dave Beronio, Bill Pemberton, and my cameraman Jeremy Winters. Although we did not kill any big bucks we did have some ample opportunity and saw a ton of quality velvet wrapped horns! As always our Wilderness Athlete products supplemented our daily needs and helped us push it harder and higher! Here is what Dave Beronio had to say about his experience with WA (Wilderness Athlete) on this hardcore hunt.

"My hunting partner, Bill Pemberton, and I love to backcountry bow hunt and enjoy the challenge to go where most others will not. Recently we went on an archery deer hunt in Nevada. We spent 6 days in the mountains, 7 miles in. Camp was at 8500 feet and we hunted up to 10,000 feet. While preparing for the hunt I was turned on to the Wilderness Athlete Product line. I was impressed with the detailed pamphlet that I received. It proved to me that the products I was currently using couldnt compete with the Wilderness Athlete product line. Some of the products I used to take were on the comparative chart ....... the key word being used to. Reviewing this pamphlet made me realize that even though I was training hard I was still cutting myself short with my suppliments. Being new to the WA products I felt that this backcountry hunt would be a perfect test for us to use WA. Bill and I packed our bags with a per day quota: 3 bars, 2 Hydro2Max, 2 Alert, and 1 gel pack for a morning kick start. Our bladder bags were always filled with Hydro2MAx and Alert together making it easy to keep the suppliments in our system. Religiously we were keeping our bodies filled with these products. Our days started early and we hunted hard all day in very warm august weather. This can be very taxing on the body but we were still pounding the mountains. It wasnt until the drive home that we started really talking about what was happening. Bill is the ripe age of 40 and in great shape. What he had to say really hit home. After 6 days of hard hiking he would usually be completely spent. Burned up, legs sore, and exhausted is how it usually feels after a hunt like this. Not only was he none of these, but was ready and willing to hit it hard again. Bill was convinced that using the Wilderness Athlete products helped his energy throughout the trip. His legs still felt fresh and he never felt as though he couldnt stay hydrated. He was not the only one that felt this way. Until he said that, I never paid attention to how good I felt. I guess the saying "Out of Site Out of Mind" comes into play. I didnt hurt, I wasnt spent, and I wasnt lacking any energy. Since the hard hunt wasnt taxing on my body, I had no reason to think about it. We finally realized why we felt as good as we did. The Wilderness Athlere products did what they were supposed to do and perhaps even more. Hard evidence is difficult to dispute and since being turned on to WA, I am a new Wilderness Athlete myself. Thank you WA for helping me be the best I can be."

Canadian bear hunt

I have just returned from a phenomenal Black Bear hunt in Saskatchewan Canada, NE of Saskatoon and had a great hunt! I was joined by Mark Paulsen, CEO of Wilderness Athlete, where we were able to video each other on our hunts and capture the action for future TV shows. It was a thrill getting to know Mark and am looking forward to working closer with him as I join the WA team as Director of Media Relations. We both took 2 great sows with AWESOME coats and are already looking forward to next year hunting with Jim Brennan of Triple B outfitters again. Here are a few pictures of the hunt.

MT Floating Turkey Hunt

I had an awesome opportunity to join the great crew of Montana Decoy on a float turkey hunt on the Yellowstone river in eastern Montana. It was an experience I will never forget and I was able to also take a nice jake on the last day. It was also the first time I had ever hunter with the new Bowtech Guardian bow and I was impressed. Nebraska Turkeys

Had the opportunity to go archery turkey hunting on opening morning in Nebraska with my buddy Adam Wells. It was a great time and we both killed nice birds. There is just something special about the verbal interaction with any animal, where you draw that animal to you by mimicing there audible exchanges! (Wow big words!)

Good old days

As I sit here "healin' up" I was looking through some old pics and videos of when I was a little spunkier and younger, I thought it would be kind of fun to post a few pics and a video of me back when I was a lot tougher and healed quicker. Recovery

As an active outdoorsie (is that a real word??) guy and the winter here in Colorado being so harsh this year I have enjoyed keeping fit by playing indoor soccer. Tuesday night Feb 20th I "tweeked" my left knee playing in a game. Having had 2 ACL reconstructions on that very knee you could say I was "a bit" concerned. The knee was locked in a slightly bent position and I could neither bend or straighten it at all (very painful).

I was fortunate to get right in to see an orthapedic surgeon who promptly scheduled me for surgery (arthroscopic) on Thursday morning. Thank God everything went well and the surgery was a quick 22 minutes where the doc fixed the meniscus and told me my ACL was still OK !!

YEEEEHAAAWWW!! I can start getting ready for outdoor soccer which starts in the middle of March.

Well for now I have to lay around with my leg in the air for 3-4 days to keep the swelling down. My wife has been awesome and even built me a little "fort" with a gate and all where I can keep working and my leg elevated. Avery my 16month old daughter thinks it is pretty cool to try and "break" into my fort and bounce on my lap. I will keep you all posted on my progress, as I start some physical rehab next week.

I recently received a video from an outfitter called Mile High Outfitters where a friend of mine Amy Martin with Frontier Outdoors Production had used a song that I had written in their promotional DVD. My buddy Jobe Lewis performed it and it was really amazing the way she edited the video to the music as it made the tone of the video and the song, in my biased opinion awesome! Show season winds down

I am relieved to report the show season is winding down. I have just finished meeting and greeting sponsors, potential advertisers, and other industy personalities at a variety of outdoor industry shows, including SHOT, ATA, and SCI.

At the SCI (Safari Club International) I had the pleasure of being joined by Michael Martin Murphey were we videoed some openers for the new TV show and toured the SCI show speaking with his fans and meeting people.

One person in particular who we had the pleasure of meeting was James Noteman. James is a disabled hunter and won the SCI disable hunter award twice. He was a remarkable individual and embodied the spirit of optimism. Michael Martin Murphey sat down and interviewed him for the show and what a great segment it will make. Murph asked him what he thought his biggest difficulty in hunting with his disability was, and his response was priceless. "I think my biggest disbility is," James said tongue in cheek, "just hitting the target." Meeting James was a like finding a diamond in the rough and reminded me what my attitude toward life should be more like.

"Crazy like a Coyote"

I just finished work on a TV Commercial for a "The Best of the West" production called "Crazy Like a Coyote." This is the new 2 hour action packed DVD with Bobby Beeman and Don Laubach (see link below)

This was especially fun not only because I was empowered to get creative on the set up of the shots but I was also able to use my wife Sandy and my great friend Travis McKenzie in the commercial. Look for its premier in a couple of weeks on "The Best of the West" TV show airing on the Men's Channel on Wednesday at 9:30pm eastern.

Michael Martin Murphey

On Thursday night I had the priviledge of meeting America's #1 Cowboy singer, songwriter, and poet Michael Martin Murphey. As many of you know Michael Martin Murphey is the new Host for "The Best of the West" TV show where I am a Field Host. He was performing a concert in Heber City, UT for the Heber City Annual Cowboy Poetry and Buckaroo festival. We videoed the concert for some outtakes for the TV show and got to visit with him. He put on a great concert and is extremely excited about the new season and his partnership with "The Best of the West."

I am excited to spend more time with him and hopefully really get to know him. I hope that next hunting season will find us sitting around the campfire picking on guitars and telling stories.
